Our Love is Written in the Stars, Leon and Chelsea

We met Leon and Chelsea last march over coffee, they told us about their dream wedding at the Desert Botanical Garden. They were referred to us by a friend, (Jessica) from a wedding we had shot last year, thank you for bringing us all together! Leon and Chelsea have been great to work with from the beginning. They are fun and easy to talk to, they’ve thought of everything, are great communicators and so sweet with us and each other, a true #copperhillcouple, thanks for being so amazing guys! And as you know we tend to be long winded in our blogs, we can’t help it because we are storytellers ;o). But do read on and don’t miss out on all these sweet pictures at the end!

As described by their Man of Honor, Leon and Chelsea have a “geeky love”. One that is meant to be and reaches further than what we understand. It stretches though the universe and time. Their wedding was based on the idea of “Our love is written in the stars” and we think that is so sweet. There are so many meanings to this: They found each other quickly like it was meant to be, they love sci-fi, and their love is never ending just like all of space and time. We love how Leon and Chelsea are unique in love and in life and they do things their own way, even their wedding party had a “man of honor”, David and a “Best Lady”, Kaydia. Chelsea and Leon found each other quickly through online dating, they were each other’s first date off the site, and they never turned back. The first time they met was over sushi and after that date they deleted their accounts and knew that they were destined to be together.

On the day of the wedding we arrived at their house where we were greeted by friendly faces and lots of adorable animals. You see Chelsea and Leon love their little fur babies. They have four cats and the sweetest Pomeranian we have ever met named Pippin. He was quite the little teddy bear and loved being held. And as you guys know, the two of us love animals and couldn’t help but to take a few snuggle breaks with them. Leon’s parents flew in from China to witness this sweet event. They spoke no english, but got along great with everyone. His father Rubin, was even playing with Chelsea’s little sister Riley and also loved playing with the animals as the wedding day began at their home. Chelsea has commented on how she thinks he might be stealing sir pounce-a-lot from them as the two of them have quickly become best friends over shared dinners. It doesn’t matter if we come from different backgrounds or don’t speak the same language, we have a lot in common, we all love animals, kids, and Leon & Chelsea! His mother helped to get all of the details together, gave us a very thoughtful gift and even fed us delicious dumplings, talk about hospitality! Kaiyuan, you are very much appreciated! Chelsea’s mom, Barbara is one of those moms we love having around, she was nurturing, welcoming and so genuinely happy for her daughter and new son in law that their day was finally here. And little sister Riley was simply adorable, telling us stories and helping us with the animals and detail shots. Monica from Ideal Bridal worked her magic and made the ladies look gorgeous as always.

Leon is a very caring and helpful person. He wants nothing more than to make the love of his life happy. You can tell just by the way he looks at her. And even though they got ready together at their house, they still wanted to take a moment for just the two of them, to do a first look in her beautiful dress. Chelsea dyed her dress herself and it turned out absolutely perfect. They shared their first look at the impeccable Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. Chelsea with her bubbly and vivacious personality was happy as can be throughout the day, her love for Leon is so evident and he brings a sense of calm to her presence and you just know all is right with these two when they are together. During their vows he talked about how he wishes he could travel back in time to see how she grew into the woman he loves today, and how through any version of sci-fi their love would be the same. You may even notice that Chelsea’s ear rings were constellations of their zodiac symbols, and we so loved all the little carefully though out and hand crafted details throughout the day that tied everything together. Chelsea water painted all of the name cards for reception seating, they handmade all the cute puffy stars for their center pieces, and she even made her own amazing bouquet, she put a lot of time and thought into her day, she’s definitely a crafty bride and did such a beautiful job!

That’s My Jam” DJ Ken provided great entertainment for the evening while we danced the night away under the stars, literally, the reception had star lighting fixtures and it was so perfect. They danced, they ate (delicious) cake, they laughed and celebrated this one of a kind, sweet love! And then they left under a glow stick exit, something we have not yet seen but loved the idea.

Chelsea and Leon, we hope you enjoy reliving your beautiful day at the Desert Botanical Garden as much as we have, thank you for trusting us with this most important moment in your lives! Congratulations on finding each other and tying the knot. Cheers to many years of, love, star gazing and so much laughter.
