| A Sedona Wedding With a View |
“Love is what we as humans, all share. It is the great unifier, a universal language. That no matter who we are, where we’ve come from or what we believe, we know this one thing: love is what we’re doing right. And on Maddie & Jacob’s wedding day, we were reminded that the ability to love is the very best part of our humanity.”
“Think back to your first day of high school. Remembering that feeling of excitement and paralyzing nervousness that came from a fresh new start and the possibilities that lie before you. Most kids are happy if they make it through their first day without any incident, first impressions on that day felt like they could stick with you for the rest of your life. However, Maddie made an impression that day on a “little blonde boy in the back of Ms. Hunter’s class” that truly would last a lifetime. Neither of them knew that when Maddie got Jacobs name wrong playing the “get to know you” game that the teacher had designed, that they would, over time fall deeply in love, changing the course of their lives, forever. Maddie and Jacob had a very unique opportunity as a couple, they got to grow up together.”
(A few perfectly worded excerpts from Maddie and Jacobs ceremony.)
Many years down the road, after high school, College on different campuses, and some time spent enduring a long distance relationship while Jacob attended basic training to go into the Army National Guard, the time had come for Jacob to plan one very sneaky proposal. He had to, you see, he wanted to give Maddie a surprise, but it is almost impossible to get anything past her as she is very observant and detail oriented. His master plan was to propose in Sedona but he just had to figure out a way to do it without her catching on. So he employed the help of some friends who faked winning some tickets for a wine tasting tour of Sedona. Unable to attend the wine tasting, their friends offered their winnings to Maddie and Jacob to enjoy. If he had suggested a trip to Sedona, she would have known he was up to something. Luckily the plan went flawlessly. They spent their day tasting the fantastic wines of the Verde Valley and at sunset they had a short trip up Baby Bell Rock to enjoy some wine and a picnic. Surrounded by the enormous red rocks, as the sunset set he asked for her hand in marriage. And of course, she said YES!
They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for a Sedona Wedding. The day prior to their wedding was gusty and stormy but as fate would have it, the skies cleared for them. Which only seems fair after waiting nine years to the day to make it official! Their beautiful, long awaited day, took place at the breath taking Sky Ranch Lodge in Sedona, Arizona and it was definitely a day to remember. We had been looking forward to their wedding ever since our first meeting where we sat and chat about their story and wedding plans over coffee at The Mine Cafe, a quaint breakfast and brunch restaurant in Jerome.
The day of the Sedona Wedding went perfectly, the spring weather had brought partial sun and a light breeze. The view from Sky Ranch Lodge is a 180˚ panoramic of the majestic red rocks, it just doesn’t get much better than that. After a day of prepping with their closest friends and family, they exchanged heartfelt vows through many tears, and we whisked them away. A sweet moment for just the two of them. We all piled into their SUV (Adam jumped in the back and held on tight) and we ventured down the hill to one of the most amazing places in Sedona. Maddie lead the way up the steep hill (more like a small mountain) in her high heels and wedding dress!!! Jacob so carefully helping her keep balance and control all that dress so she wouldn’t trip. The trek was totally worth it to get some of the most stunning photos we have ever taken. The winds on top of that mountain were a little stronger, but Jacob held tight to Maddie as they enjoyed their first moments as Husband and Wife. Maddie’s gorgeous dress kicked up in the wind and she was as breathtaking as the view, even Jacob had to take a moment to get a shot of his beautiful bride on his phone.
Maddie & Jacob, no one deserves this perfect day more than the two of you. It is evident to see how you found true love at the tender age of just 15, when you’re surrounded by so much genuine love of your sweet family and friends. We are completely honored that we got to be there to witness the beginning of your Forever. Thank you so much for being the awesome couple you are. Your love and kindness are contagious and we truly enjoyed being surrounded by it. Here is to many more adventures of Batmaddie & Robin (aka Jacob),
